Knitting Every Day in June

June 9, 2010

I was in New York late last month for business, and while attending a one-day Book Blogging Convention, the keynote speaker commented about something she had done earlier this year when she made a goal to blog every day in April.

Inspired, I decided that I would knit every day in June, and not just knit, I would also blog about it.

And so, although I do not update here often (I’m working to get better) I did want to point the couple of people who might be reading this to my Tumblr account.

I’m on Day 8 (plus maybe half a day, because I actually started knitting the pattern the afternoon of May 31st) of Knitty’s French Market Bag.

Laziest of days

May 15, 2010

It’s not a gloomy day, as the birds outside who are chirp, chirp, chirping make it known, but it’s not sunny either. I have the windows open and both the cat and I are nestled under blankets, each on our own couch.

I have television to catch up on, knitting patterns to peruse, and a gift certificate to Briar Rose Fibers to spend and if I don’t go anywhere today or do anything, it will be a day well spent.

Tessellating

March 17, 2010

I’m working on the tessellating fish pattern. Yes, this one. Only I’m crocheting it.

To figure out what pattern I want for the blanket–there will be three colors, purple and green as the main colors with some blue thrown in–I’m going to be using Excel. Because it’s geektastic and it’s easier to switch around colors than if I’m using my pretty, pretty markers.

Star Crossed Slouchy Beret

In November, I knit a couple Star Crossed Slouchy Berets.

See?

This was made with some Lion Brand Wool-Ease from my stash. I wanted to make sure that I had a handle on the pattern before I went and used fancier yarn, and now that this is a success… I can pull out the better stuff.

My bff wants one for her very own, and so for part of her belated Christmas present, I have some Malabrigo Worsted Merino to knit up and I must say, I’m very excited!

Now I just need to finish my brother’s scarves (one being the very nice wool one, the other an acrylic, but one that will be done faster so he’s not waiting for his “spring scarf” has he’s dubbed it.)

I really have to start posting here more

It’s the new year, and while I didn’t make resolutions, one thing I’d like to do is to start posting here more often. I need a craft blog, and isn’t this the reason I started this blog?

So, yes, right. Happy 2010. Yarn posting to come.

Thanksgiving afternoon

It’s been a busy and somewhat stressful week and a half with family stuff going on. On the upside, it has allowed me to spend time knitting. I’ve spied some patterns that I want to try out soon and I have finished pieces that I need to take photos of and post.

To anyone stumbling across this page, I hope, wherever you are, you have a wonderful day.

Baby it’s cold inside

October 5, 2009

It’s starting to get cool outside, and the radiators haven’t been turned on yet which means it’s definitely socks, sweatshirts and blanket weather.

I’m in heaven.

And so, tonight, I’m going to start working on a pattern for fingerless gloves for the apartment and office. Photos to follow.

Extreme Knitting

September 22, 2009

Being a curious sort, and wanting to stay up until the midnight hour (I suppose. I actually thought I would try to sleep before the clock struck 12, but that isn’t happening)… I typed in “knitting” into YouTube.

I found Rachel John, Extreme Knitting, 1000 Strand Knit. Wicked.

My So Called Scarf

I’m near the end of the second ball for the scarf. It’s a pattern that’s always intimidated me, and it ended up not scary at all. And this may be my first attempt at blocking. This is a number of firsts, and a step toward confidence in my knitting.

Brilliant

August 24, 2009

I’m tired.

Deep, bone-deep, tired from a day that was brilliant and full of mostly smiles.

The window is open and I’m welcoming Morpheus in.
